- Joel Salatin: I have only read a couple books by him, but I am sure you could read anything by this guy and be better for it.
- Bill McKibben: just read it all!
- Guns, Germs, and Steel, by Jared Diamond.
- Eliot Coleman: all of his books have been very helpful to me as a farmer.
- Eating on the Wild Side by Jo Robinson.
- Farmacology by Daphne Miller.
- Eastern Massachusetts CRAFT (Collaborative Regional Alliance for Farmer Training) - a community of farm people who exchange ideas and knowledge.
- Russ Cohen, edible wild food expert. Russ does a wild edible plant walk on the farm every year. His walks are wonderful and informative.
- Federation of Mass Farmers Markets - an organization that runs and supports farmers markets in Massachusetts.
- NOFA (Northeast Organic Farming Association). For more information about organic food, see the National Organic Program website.
- At the Lincoln Farmers Market on Saturdays you can buy from Lindentree Farm, Pete & Jen's Backyard Birds, and of course us.

- The Food Project - a farm-based nonprofit based in Lincoln, and with farms in several towns.
- Powisset Farm & CSA in Dover, MA.
- The Lincoln Conservation Commission leases historically farmed town-owned land, including the Umbrello field, where Blue Heron Organic Farm is located. They also manage a large amount of conservation land with many trails that the public can hike and cross-country ski on.
- A worthwhile destination while in the Lincoln area is the DeCordova Museum, which has changing exhibitions, a gift shop, and a huge, free sculpture park where you can picnic and enjoy the art and the outdoors.
- Historic Walden Pond is a great place to swim, walk, and reflect on Henry Thoreau's writings. Weekends in the summers can get very hectic.
- The Gropius House was designed by the founder of the Bauhaus design school and has an influential and groundbreaking design.
